According to a Korean myth, Gyerim Forest in Banwolseong Fortress, Gyeongju is the birthplace of Silla Kingdom founder Kim Alji (of Gyeongju Kim’s Clan) about two thousand years ago. Gyerimgung Hanok Pension is located 2 kilometers from Banwolseong Fortress and is named after the forest.
