Ganae Village, located in Mundeok-myeon, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do Province, is a charming historic village that houses the birth home of Soh Jaepil (pen-name: Songjae), an independence activist of Korea. The house in front of that is Mokimdang. It is a remodeled hanok (traditional Korean house) built in 1958, whose unique characteristics were conserved immaculately during the remodeleing process. It was made well-known by its appearance in the 2020 EBS program Architectural Investigation, House.
The entire house is rented out as a single unit to guests. There are three rooms, one kitchen, two restrooms with bathtubs, and a courtyard, making it a comfortable and fun place for the family to stay. Two rooms are fitted with ondol (under-the-floor heating system), while the floor room has beds. Each room can accommodate up to two people. Four is the standard occupancy, and maximum occupancy is six. Each additional guest carries a surcharge of KRW 20,000, but guests under 24 months of age are exempted from this fee. The house also allows pet dogs on the premise, with a surcharge of KRW 12,000 per head.
Amenities include towels, shampoo, hair dryer, iron, dryer, and washing machine. Guests must bring their own toiletries, such as toothbrushes. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker, gas stove, microwave oven, utensils, refrigerator, cooking tools, and basic seasoning (salt, pepper, cooking oil) for use. Services are also offered in English for international guests. Daewonsa Tibetan Museum is located 10 min away, while the Buriram Hermitage of Songgwangsa Temple can be reached in 20 min.
